The NFL is, without a doubt, a powerhouse, a juggernaut of our global economy. This could potentially cost 150,000 jobs to be lost nationwide. The lockout isn’t just about football its also about our economy. We are talking about billionaires vs millionaires. Who cares about Wall-Street? How about we focus on main street? Ushers, security officers, attendants and many others will be affected by the lockout. The owners and players will be fine but its the little people that make the NFL what it is. Without fans, you don’t have the NFL.
What is the problem, the owners or players? The owners want an 18 game season and the players to give up 1 billion dollars. This will no doubt increase injuries causing us to see players such as Tiki Barber try to make a comeback when he should be stuck on the practice squad. I don’t know whats worse, watching replacement players or has beens that are 30 something trying to make a team. I don’t like 18 games. The integrity of the game will be compromised due to the brutality of play.
To make matters worse the NFLPA is telling top prospects to boycott the NFL draft. That would be like rewarding your kids with a trip to Disney World then after you get there telling them they can’t go on the rides. These kids work their tails off their whole lives and get shortchanged by executives egos getting too big!
The NFL is a mess right now but it can be fixed. Can’t we all just get along? Will there be a season in 2011?? I talked to an NFL player yesterday and he said their will be a season. Do i want to believe in his optimism? I will buy the Kool-aide on this one. I think their will be a season. Too much money involved. The NFL should learn from MLB considering what happened after the lockout in the 90’s. This is a cry from a huge football fan. Winter is tough enough in the cold… but don’t be cold and have no NFL season over greed!

[...] of the dumb rules that players and coaches can’t communicate during the lockout. Hopefully Roger Goodell isn’t watching or that could cost the lions some draft [...]
