Just outside the traffic and noise and right between Ann Arbor and Detroit is one of the most well rounded disc golf courses in Michigan. Kensington metropark, located right off I-96 in Milford, is one of the most visited parks in the state.
Tucked into the over 4000 acres of lakes, woods and wildlife is a newly redesigned 27 hole disc golf course called “The Black Locust“. And it has something for everyone. The layout of the course is designed to allow you to start on hole 1 and play either 18 or 27 holes or start on hole 19 and just play the back 9. It offers a long and short tee pad on almost every hole which, depending on the one you choose, can change your throwing strategy. The elevation changes are not only a beautiful site and a thigh burner but they add another dimension to the holes that some disc golf courses lack. The holes vary in length from just over 100ft to more than 600ft. Make sure you stretch well because this course will give your arm a workout.
Kensington has started charging since the new course opened but i have to say it’s worth it. Parking is $5 daily and $25 annually. Disc golf is $2 daily and $50 annually. Depending on how often you play it may be better to just get a yearly pass. The annual passes also allow you to park and play at any Metropark in Michigan.
So bring your family, your friends or just take a little “me” time and check out Kensington Metropark and Discgolf course.
